Daniel's struggle with whether or not free will exists relates to the Tralfamadorians and their claim that free will is a concept unique to humans due to their limited concept of time. Leonard Shelby's mantra in the 2000 movie Memento. In the movie, Leonard is unable to make new memories and doesn't remember people, places or things. He ends up telling and retelling people "I have this condition" even when he just left them minutes ago. An extended version of the scene by the river where Daniel explains his theory to Jack and Kate is on the Season 5 DVD. In it, he brings up a metaphor about stones and boulders: how a pebble (small change) won't alter the course of a river, but a boulder (big change) will. This episode was billed by ABC as the 100th episode of LOST. In the United States, 100 episodes is generally considered a significant milestone for a series, as it is usually the point at which it becomes viable for syndication. There are exceptions to the 100-episode rule however, and LOST was one—it had begun its first-run syndication in September 2008 on the American cable channels Sci-Fi and G4.|US cable giant HBO is reviving the 33-year-old memory of one of the worst - and the most infamous - nuclear incidents in the world. It overlays history with personal drama and intrigue in its fresh mini-series - but what the general viewer might not realize is that it’s too early for Ukraine to consign nuclear problems to history and fiction. The name ‘Chernobyl’ is being brought up again in reference to the woes plaguing Ukrainian atomic energy today. Ukrainian nuclear power plants have become a “time bomb,” Rada member Sergey Shakhov recently said. Reactors - some of them near densely populated cities - are aging without proper oversight or funding, contracts with Russia are broken, and homegrown nuclear experts are fleeing to find better opportunities abroad. Emergencies have plagued at least two major Ukrainian nuclear power plants, causing a series of stoppages in operations in the past three years.  Chernobyl Episode 6 watch online. We knew someone was hurt, and that all the events leading up to the end would have an injury. That is really what made the episode work. The writers included many potential dangers that left us guessing exactly how the injury would occur. There was the zip line, rock wall, bugs and lizards, and the crossbow (I know, wtf). But in the end, it was Claire's benign arts and crafts table that did in Luke. Ignored all day, the beads took vengeance on Luke, sending him to the ground with a broken arm. In the commotion of the crazy chain reaction set off by Phil (or I suppose Fizbo/Cam), the one thing no one expected to harm anyone was the culprit. Phil's sarcastic attitude toward Claire was fun, and showed that he can be clueless and snarky at the same time. So far, Phil has been a total idiot, but making fun of Claire added another side to him. Manny continues to be delightful with his mature attitude and adult ways.|Decades after the catastrophic explosion at the Chernobyl plant in Ukraine, HBO gives an in-depth look at the accident in a five-part miniseries that stars Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgard, and Emily Watson. The chilling trailer looks as though it's a horror movie, but it's really based on a true story of a full-blown international crisis. The disaster is considered the worst nuclear plant disaster in human history, triggering harrowing health and economic effects. Before you watch the new show, here's what you need to know about the background and consequences of the tragic event. The Chernobyl plant was located around 60 miles away from Kiev near the small town of Pripyat in Ukraine. During the time of the nuclear disaster, Ukraine had still been part of the Soviet Union. Originally established in the '70s to accommodate plant workers, the now-abandoned Pripyat had a population of between 40,000 to 50,000 inhabitants. What caused the explosions? Anyone else watch Chernobyl on hbo? I just finished the first episode out of the 3 out right now and it’s pretty good. It’s horrifying but it’s so fascinating seeing how much damage was done but i still feel like a bad person for wanting to see how they die lol. Its incredible. I feel its way scarier than any horror Ive seen purely because I know it really happened. The denialism and stubborn leadership in the early moments was so frustrating. Then when they were laying it out to Gobachev in episode 2 what the world was facing if they didnt act immediately. Amazing piece of tv. I just read the wiki about it. I think I’ll check it out tonight. I really want to watch it because I love science and this is an event that I’ve never known the details about. When he becomes more hardened to the task, Pavel is faced with the worst possible scenario - encountering a dog surrounded by a litter of puppies. Nikolai encourages Pavel to leave, with the gunshots ringing out over the abandoned area. The act of shooting puppies might feel like low-hanging fruit for an easy emotional response, but the shock feels earned. Barry Keoghan’s impressive performance also sells the trauma of the ordeal, and taking significant time to acknowledge the brutal slaughter of wildlife feels like something lesser shows would merely skate around. There’s heartbreak outside this story thread too. Valery and Boris Shcherbina (Stellan Skarsgard) attempt to reduce the disaster’s damage in the close vicinity by tackling the graphite problem on the power plant’s roof. This leads them to send hundreds of people instead for 90 second bursts to limit their exposure, with an incredible sequence following one man’s desperate panic to throw off as much graphite as possible.  Chernobyl Episode 5 watch online.
